Benefits of taking free online courses
Great way to keep up with a changing environment
In today’s ever-changing world with so many new ways of doing things, free online courses often bridge the gap between studying something in its entirety and succinct knowledge on a specific topic.
Ability to increase your knowledge
Sure there are tons of resources online to increase your knowledge on a particular subject, but how many of them allow you to have a certificate of completion that you can add to your CV? The free online courses are not only taught by trained professionals but are also available for you to finish on your own time and provide you with a comprehensive paper.
Learn a new skill
During lockdown in 2020, many people found themselves reevaluating what they do for a living. Perhaps you are looking to improve your skills or explore the idea of a different career. Free online courses allow you to explore a chosen topic without spending anything on it.
Go to www.coursera.com and create an account (or Sign Up) on the website. This will allow you to log in, finish your courses, take tests, quizzes, etc. Creating an account is really just ‘registration’
Go to www.coursera.com again to begin enrolling for the courses now.
At the top of the www.coursera.com homepage, search for whatever course field/area you want where it says, “What do you want to learn?” with a search icon next to it.
In searching for courses, just type keywords like “banking”, “electrical engineering”, “marketing“, “small business“, “motivation” etc, and the website will automatically bring up all the courses for you.
Choose whatever course you like from the results of your search by clicking on it.
When you click on the course you like you’ll get all the information like Syllabus, Lecturer information, how long it takes, language, etc
TO ENROL from the course DO NOT CLICK ON “ENROLL FOR FREE”. Make sure not to click on “Enroll for Free” but rather click on “Financial Aid Available”
Click on “financial aid available” and then next click on “Continue to Application” You will then see a page pop up written “Financial Aid” in BIG LETTERS.
Check the 2 boxes provided to move on, type “I agree to the terms above” and then click “Continue.” TYPE THE SENTENCE EXACTLY as directed – no mistakes.
Then fill in the application fields that come after that asking for information about you etc. You’ll then be done applying for financial aid for that course & you can wait for a day to 15 days for approval.
